Auto Racers For Kids Charities Board President Michael Langer hopes the events this year will raise $40,000 for these very deserving charities. Erie County CASA and St. Martin’s Center will split the proceeds equally between them. In 2011, Auto Racers For Kids raised $25,000 which benefited Community Shelter Services “Back To School Program” and provided nearly 500 needy local children with School uniforms, clothing, shoes, backpacks and other school supplies. Auto Racers for Kids has raised over $100,000 for children in need in our area.
The media is invited to share in Auto Racers for Kids charity announcement on Friday, March 9th at 1:30pm at St. Martin’s Early Learning Center, 1305 French St. Erie, PA. Board members from Auto Racers for Kids will be on hand as well as representatives from CASA and St. Martin’s Center.
CASA of Erie County represents about 100 children a year but the need is really more than 3 times that. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to first make sure that children are in a safe, secure environment and then advocate for them throughout their involvement in the judicial system. CASA volunteers are often the only constant in a child’s life.
St. Martin’s Center Early Learning Center provides care for children between the ages of 6 weeks and 5 years. They also offer preschool curriculum as well as before and after school care for children in Kindergarten through 3rd grade. SMELC has a Keystone STARS 4 rating which is the highest rating that can be achieved in early learning environments in the state of Pennsylvania.
